Hello, hello, hello

Hello, hello, hello. How are you doing Sacrament-ooooo? I am quite flattered by the invitation from Brandon to contribute here. This time I’m just going to tell you a bit about myself.

I am a stand up comic from Modesto. It’s been almost 3 years since my first open mic. Since then, in addition to performing, I write a monthly column for our local entertainment magazine the Modesto View; I have won a Modesto Area Music Award (MAMA) for comedy; and  I have formed, with my big guy, a production company: FEarlisha Presents.  FEarlisha Presents produces music and comedy shows in the 209. The “Earl” in “FEarlisha” has been a musician for 20-ish years. I recently lost my office job of 13 years and 50 is around the corner, so I am going forward hard–I don’t want to be a desk jockey again.

I plan to share my columns and video that I contribute to Modesto View as well as creating new content from time to time. My columns generally talk about local events and my videos are short interviews with comics from the Modesto/209 area.

All 209 comics spend regular time in Sacramento because of more mics/venues. Up until a few months ago, we didn’t even have an open mic in the 209, but now we have multiple locations. (Honestly, I could’ve counted, but I’m really lazy. I’m going to say like more than a handful, but not 10.) That being said, I know that Sacramento comics are super supportive of the 209 and just as many come out to our rooms as go their way.

I attribute the willingness of Sacramento comics to travel to the Modesto/209 area despite the fact that we’re a smaller market is that we get really great audiences who are engaged and will sit through even an open mic with enthusiasm you don’t see at some showcases. I’m generalizing, so please don’t argue with me, but please, let me know about the friendliest rooms around, I’d love to visit.

It’s the first of the month, so I’ll be publishing that column soon. Thanks for reading.

So, that’s a little about me. Thanks for reading. Find me on Facebook at Felicia Aleman Comedy.
